A multilayer building element (1), comprising outer layer(s) (2,3) and a layer of thermoplastic material (6) contg. embedded reinforcing material (5) with a m.pt. higher than the processing temp. (T1) of plastic (6), positively interlocked with the outer layers. At least part of plastic (6) in the form of granules or dough and/or matted and/or bonded fibre material (11) is applied to or incorporated into the outer layers (2,3) and or reinforced (5) consisting of natural material or plastic. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (1).
