The invention relates to a check valve with a throttle device for limiting the flow of a fluid passed through a pressure line, comprising a pressure-resistant housing with two coaxial working connections and a valve element freely displaceable in the housing. According to the invention, the valve element is an essentially cylindrical piston (7, 20) which is guided in a bore section (3) of the housing (2), the housing furthermore having a cylindrical recess (9) which is connected to bypass passages situated in the region of the circumference of the piston. Arranged in the adjoining region is a connecting nipple designed as a standard screw connector (10).
