PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select a proper wavelength for decreasing or removing birefringence produced in various wave guide paths having different cores and clad layers. SOLUTION: A birefringence reducing method for a silicate wave guide path structure having a wave guide path core and a clad includes a select step for irradiation energy for causing compression in a clad. Accordingly, in order to reduce the birefringenece, radioactive rays having energy equal to the irradiation energy are applied to the wave guide structure. |
