PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide emulsion showing better behavior during storage period by adding silver halide fine grain emulsion to which photographically useful compound adheres during the chemical sensitization heating cycle of a high chloride silver halide emulsion. SOLUTION: A high chloride silver halide emulsion is prepared, and during the chemical sensitization heating cycle, a silver halide fine grain emulsion where photographically useful compound is made adhere to the particles is added. For example, used is fine particle silver bromide salt added to the high chloride emulsion in the middle of finishing. The host high chloride emulsion typically includes 95mol% or more silver chloride, but preferably it includes about 99mol% silver chloride. A fine particle silver bromide known as a Lippmann emulsion has a range of average size about 0.03 to about 0.1 micron, and preferable fine particle emulsion includes 98mol% or more silver bromide. It is desirable that the photographically useful compound made adhere to the particles contains an anti-fogging agent. Thus, during the storage of printing paper before use, fog can be prevented from being increased, and further the anti-fogging agent can be used efficiently.
