<p>PURPOSE: To provide a enclosed lead-acid battery which has advantages of batteries packed with granular silica and also has good initial characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A enclosed lead-acid battery packed with granular silica particles serving as electrolyte holding material is manufactured, then an electrolyte is injected into the enclosed lead-acid battery, initial charging is effected, and then vibration is applied to the enclosed lead-acid battery. Vibrating requirements in particular include a frequency of 50 to 100Hz, an acceleration of 2 to 6G, and a vibration time of 3 to 30 minutes. Gas generated by charging can be made to escape out of the storage battery much quickly than is possible with conventional natural discharge method, and by breaking the track of the gas generated during charging, intimate contacts can be made between the silica particles and between the plates and the silica particles, with the result that the battery can exhibit good initial characteristics.</p> |
