PURPOSE: To provide an optical semiconductor module enhanced in sealing reliability. CONSTITUTION: This optical semiconductor module contains an optical semiconductor element 12 and an optical fiber 5. An outer wall 60 is provided around the element 12, and a resin 43 (epoxy resin) through which a light transmitted in the optical fiber 5 is transmitted is filled between the element 12 and the optical fiber 5. The refractive index of the transparent resin 43 is controlled within ±10% of that of the core of the optical fiber 5 through which the light passes. Since the transparent resin body 43 is covered with the outer wall 60, the interface between a stem 10 and the resin body 43 is protected, and an adverse effect due to the release of the stem 10 from the resin body 43 is prevented.
