The compn. contains a polymer which is at least partly soluble in an aqs. medium and is derived from a monomer contg. a gp. which can react with a metal ion. The monomer is e.g. methacryloylacetone and the comonomer may be acrylamide, vinylpyrrolidene, vinyl alcohol, methacrylic acid or dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. The compn. is used as thickener or gelling agent for explosive, mine works, textiles, cosmetic, pharmaceutical or agricultural prods. and forms a stable gel. |
