New metal salt complexes (I) have the formula: in which R1 and R2 are H, (ar)alkyl or aryl, or aryl or aralkyl substd. by Cl and/or alkyl and/or alkoxy gps., or R1, R2 and the C atom form a cycloalkane ring, R3 and R4 are H, alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, or aralkyl substd. by Cl and/or alkyl and/or alkoxy gps., and, if 1 of R1 and R2 is aryl, R3 or R4 may be aryl, opt. substd. by Cl and/or alkyl and/or arlkoxy gps., or R3, and R4 and the N atom may form a satd. heterocyclic ring, R5 is (cyclo)alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, (cyclo)alkoxy, aralkoxy or aryloxy and the aromatic residue may be substd. by Cl and/or alkyl and/or alkoxy gps., L- is monovalent anion from a carboxylic acid, M+w is the w-valent cation from the series Mg++, Ca++, Sr++, Ba++, Bn++, Cd++, Al+++, Sn++++, Sn++, VO++, Cr+++, Co++, Ni++, or MoO2++, A+ is an alkali metal cation, n = 1-4, m = 0-3, w = 2-4 and p = 0.2. (I) stabilise polymers against light and increase the receptivity of the polymers to chelatisable dyes. (I) are resistant to heat and hydrolysis. Discolouration does not occur on mixing (I) into hot melts. (I) are not washed out of the compsn. on weathering. The duration of stabilisation, the "protection factor", is 20-30% higher with (I) than with known metal stabilisers. |
