The foot rest has a foot plate (1) and a lower part (2) with insert parts (3) for fitting in holes of the upper plate. The lower part has two end parts (8) formed by or containing these insert parts, as well as at least one preferably two connectors (9) which connect the end parts together. The end parts and connectors fit together by push-in connections. Seen from above the lower part has the shape of a rectangular frame with an end piece (10) at each corner containing the push-in connections. The upwardly directed insert parts (3) can be made from angled or circular bent parts of tubes with their free ends fitting into the push-in connections.
