<p>The jig can rotate freely on the frame of the machine; the polishing tool is rotated by a motor mounted on a mobile polishing head located above the jig; and the mobile head is subjected to an oscillating motion. The pref. machine includes interchangeable jigs with flat, convex or concave surfaces coated with an anti-skid elastomer and used to hold lenses of different contours; the jigs are mounted on a pivot on carrier which has an adjustable height. The polishing head is pref. mounted on a pivot arm actuated by a work cylinder; and a driven eccentric provides the oscillating motion. Suction heads mounted on a turntable are pref. used to load and unload lenses onto the jigs. Semi-automatic mass prodn. polishing is obtd. using a min. amt. of hand work.</p> |
