A tube coupling comprising a body (12) having a stepped bore therethrough, the bore receiving a retaining ring (20,21:59), a thrust washer (19,20), and an O-ring seal (17,18) therein, with a quick release collet (15,16) being held at an open end of the bore. A tube (10,11) inserted into the bore is held by gripping teeth of the retaining ring biting into the external surface thereof, release of the engagement being effected by angular movement of the collet (15,16) which is converted into axial inwards movement to force the thrust waster to release the teeth from the tube. The conversion from angular to axial movement of the collet is by means of abutments (50,51,52) on the collet moving along cam sections (36,37,38) on an interior, inwardly facing radial surface (35a) of the body. <IMAGE> |
