PURPOSE: To easily select a cutting blade and to obtain excellent cutting surface and ink discharge characteristics in a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an ink jet recording head in which the discharge ports of recording ink are formed by cutting the composing member of ink channels communicating with the ports. CONSTITUTION: The positive voltage from an electrolytic power source 5 is applied to a cutting blade 1 for cutting the composing member of an ink channel via the inner walls of a carbon brush 8 and a spindle 7. Conductive cutting fluid is charged to a negative voltage via an electrolytic electrode 3 connected to the power source 5. The composing member is cut by the blade 1 applied by the positive voltage while supplying the fluid charged to the negative voltage.
