A membrane piston pump which operates in a single, dual or tertiary cylinder arrangement, consists of a housing (7) which holds the tensioned membrane (10,11) which separates a primary chamber (8,9) from a secondary chamber (12,13), a piston (1) in a cylinder (2), a piston drive (6) and a suction valve (14). The primary chamber and the piston work chamber (3,4) are connected. The membrane (10,11) has a free moving formed section activated by a liq.. The membrane material layer (37) pref. consists of polyester or polyamide.
