The disclosed apparatus for recording and reproducing data includes: a recording medium traveling section for making a recording medium to travel in a first direction; a rotating drum which rotates with an angle with respect to the first direction, the rotating drum having a head used for recording and reproducing the data; a recording section for recording first data of the data onto a first portion of the recording medium, the first portion being commonly passed by the head at three or more predetermined speeds; and a reproducing section for reproducing the first data which is recorded at least on the first portion of the recording medium at each of the three or more predetermined speeds.
