PURPOSE: To obtain a process whereby a low-molecular α-olefin polymer mainly comprising units derived from α-olefins ranging from ethylene to 1-hexene is produced industrially advantageously at a high selectivity in a high yield by preventing the deposition of metal components of a chromium-based catalyst used for the polymn. CONSTITUTION: This low-molecular α-olefin polymer is produced by polymerizing α-olefins in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst system at least comprising a chromium compd., at least one compd. selected from among an amine, an amide, and an imide, and an alkylaluminum compd., adding a compd. sol. in the solvent and capable of forming a ligand for chrominm to the reaction soln., and separating each component from the soln. |
