PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval method capable of smoothly detecting and extracting an item desired by a user from many items. SOLUTION: A feature screen 9 is provided with plural groups 13 respectively provided with the choices 6 of features 5 to be the features of the items and a selection button 23 is used for the selection of the choices 6. At the time of selecting the choice 6 in a certain group 13, the choices 6 of the other groups 13 are discriminated into valid choices 7 and invalid choices 8, visually distinguished and displayed again and only the valid choices 7 are made selectable.
