METHOD AND DISPOSITION OF A FIBRE SOAKAGE BY ONE LIQUID,MOVING RECTILINEARLY FOR THE DYE THEREOF

Yarn is dyed by moving the yarn through a mist of de-aerated dye supplied in a plane perpendicular to the direction of movement of the yarn. Apparatus for carrying out this method comprises two treatment chambers (1) having telescoping parts (3), (4) with an inlet and an outlet (7, 8) for the yarn (2) and an atomizer (9) having a slot nozzle. The apparatus may include a recovery vessel (11) for the dye, a dye supply vessel (16) connected via a pump (17) of the atomizer and a reservoir (18) for the dye. A glass ball-filled recovery vessel (11) (see also Figure 2) is connected to the chambers. The inlet to the chambers may include a setting chamber (26) (Figure 3) to remove fluff from the yarn. The yarn speed and dye pressure may be varied to give special effects.
