<p>PURPOSE: To suppress the mercury vapor pressure with no use of amalgam and enhance the lightness by lighting the lamp with a high frequency, and furnishing an opening penetrating from the outside to inside of a lamp base. CONSTITUTION: A glass bulb 1 is fitted with a lamp base 2 which bridges the two ends of the bulb. The lamp base 2 is made of polycarbonate and has an upper body part 2a and lower body part 2b formed in a cylinder. Four base pins 3 are implanted in the lower body part 2b and connected with leads, not illustrated, which are led out of an electrode 4. The upper body part 2a is furnished with an opening 5 bored in the form of a lattice. When this annular fluorescent lamp is lighted up using a high frequency lighting fixture, current is fed to the coil part of the electrode 4, and electric discharge is commenced between it and the other electrode. At this time the inside of the lamp is heated, and encapsulated mercury is vaporized, and the lamp is filled with a mercury vapor corresponding to its coldest point of temperature.</p> |
