<p>PURPOSE: To prevent failure of biting and excessive length of tip off-gage at the time of passing a sheet through after diverting the rolling rolls which are used for a prescribed stand to other stands without grinding and incorporating them in a tandem mill. CONSTITUTION: As to the rolling roll for a prescribed stand, rolling history (the product of rolling distance and rolling load) is sucessively recorded and, when the roll is diverted to and incorporated in other stands, the roll roughness is estimated from the rolling history and the amount of proper roll gap at the time of passing the sheet through is set from this estimated roll roughness.</p> |
