<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve assembly easily releasing not only normal overpressure but also abruptly increasing overpressure. SOLUTION: This valve assembly 12 releasing overpressure inside an occupant compartment of an automobile is mounted in an opening 18 of an outside wall 16 of the compartment and provided with a frame panel with a dimension large enough for closing the opening and a passage 26 formed through the panel for discharging air from the compartment inside to the atmosphere on the outside. Although flap valve elements 38, 40 normally close the exhaust passage, they allow free air flow from the compartment inside to the outside and prevent reverse air flow. When the frame panel is installed in the opening of the wall and the air pressure inside the compartment exceeds a predetermined minimum level above an atmospheric pressure, an overpressure releasing supporting connector 29 releases the frame panel from its installation position.</p> |
