PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber encapsulating technology, regarding the interconnection of optical fibers, particularly an optical fiber connected to one side of a member such as a light back plane. (gas) SOLUTION: The method for encapsulating an optical fiber 26 involves a process for jointing the optical fiber 26 to the first surface of a hard flat member 17, and another process for placing the flat member 17 in a substantially airtight room. Furthermore, an encapsulating sheet 13 is placed in the airtight room so as to be faced to the flat member 17. In addition, the structure in this case is made so that the air pressure of the flat member 17 is kept at a level considerably lower than the air pressure of the encapsulating sheet 13, thereby pressing the encapsulating sheet 13 to the flat member 17. Also, the encapsulating sheet 13 is made of a flexible fireproof material capable of maintaining the structural integrity thereof and at least ensuring freedom from melting or catching a fire at the temperature of 200 deg.C. |
