摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a range-finding device for a camera capable of performing range-finding with high accuracy to a subject at a long distance even in the case of using a power source whose voltage is low and performing accurate range-finding even to the subject in various photographic image planes. CONSTITUTION: A luminous flux is projected to be in 1st light projection area toward the subject 26 by a light projecting element 20 to which low voltage is supplied by a power source 10, and a luminous flux is projected to be in a 2nd light projection area larger than the 1st light projection area toward the subject 26 by a light projecting element 22 to which high voltage is supplied by a power source 14. In the case of selecting either of the light projecting elements 20 and 22 and making it project the light by a CPU 18, the reflected light from the subject 26 is received by a light receiving part 44 when projecting the light, and then a photoelectric conversion signal depending on an incident position is outputted. Then, a distance to the subject 26 is calculated by the CPU 18 based on the photoelectric conversion signal outputted from the part 44.
