<p>An arrangement for testing pipe insulation for faults, small holes etc., consists of a unit contg. a battery and a test probe connected to it, a Tesla transformer generating h.v. pulses and a discharge gap to test the h.v. It takes a relatively low current and uses a transformer iron core with a relatively low cross-sectional area. The Tesla transformer (2) and spark gap (3) are mounted in the same housing (1) as the test rod.S The spark gap housing has a threaded hole (7) on its side facing away from the transformer (2) which carries a cylinder (8) carrying one pole (5), the spark gap (3). A bolt (9) pushed into the cylinder (8) is connected to a drive shaft (12) with an angle connection to an external shaft (14).</p> |
