摘要 PURPOSE: To prevent the decrease of cell performance caused by overflowing phosphoric acid in an inlet and an outlet of th flow paths and plugging the flow paths of a fuel gas and an oxidizing agent gas formed in an anode substrate and a cathode substrate constituting a cell of a phosphoric acid fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: An anode catalyst layer 5 is fit to a recess in the central part of an anode substrate 7, an inlet 16 of a fuel gas to a groove-shaped flow path, an outlet 17, and both sides of the anode catalyst layer 15 are made hydrophilic to form a frame-shaped hydrophilic part, and a part except for the hydrophilic part is made water-repellent by applying water-repellent treatment, and a cathode substrate is formed in the same structure as the anode substrate to constitute a cell. Even if the volume of phosphoric acid is expanded during operation, the phosphoric acid is soaked in the hydrophilic inlet and outlet of gas so as to prevent overflow to the groove-shaped paths. Even if the phosphoric acid temporarily overflows, it is recovered in the hydrophilic inlet and outlet according to the volume shrinkage during operation, and returned to the original position.
