PURPOSE: To provide the dictionary retrieval system which can obtain an index word corresponding to an inflection type word that is not present as an index word in a dictionary. CONSTITUTION: A data storage part for word stem extraction is stored with a featured data string and a disconnection data string. An index word table contains a character string used to find an index word out from the stem of a work. An index word indication data storage part stores the index word corresponding to the stem of the word. When an inputted retrieval word has featured data strings at the head, the middle, and the tail, the disconnection data string is corresponding to the featured data strings is disconnected from the retrieval word to generate a word stem candidate. The character string of the index word table is added to the stem candidate to generate an index word candidate. The stem matching the stem candidate is found in the index word indication data storage part and the index word corresponding to the matching stem is regarded as an index word candidate for the retrieval word. The index word storage part is searched with the index word candidate to find corresponding dictionary content data. |
