PURPOSE: To detect cell marks, electrodes of cells and TAB-ICs at a high speed with good accuracy with substantially no influence of disturbance, etc. CONSTITUTION: This image processor for production of liquid crystal substrates includes an image pickup means 16 which picks up the images of glass substrate surfaces, a converting means which converts the image information of the glass substrate surfaces into binarized image information, a labeling means for labeling respective pieces of the binarized image information, an arithmetic means which calculates the circumscribing rectangular shapes of respective pieces of the binarized image information, a label selecting means which selects labels from the respective circumscribing rectangular shapes and the circumscribing rectangular shapes for positioning marks, a centroid coordinate calculating means which calculates the centroid coordinates of the circumscribing rectangular shapes of the selected labels and a determining means 17 which determines the positions of the positioning marks from a first ratio indicating the ratio of the area in the prescribed range near the centroid coordinates of the circumscribing rectangular shapes and the area of the selected labels and a second ratio indicating the ratio of the area within the prescribed range of the circumscribing rectangular shapes and the positioning marks. |
