PURPOSE: To automatically perform alteration history management and lighten the burden of the alteration history management on a user by comparing the contents of a current document with those at the time of regular version registration when the document registered as a regular version is an object to be altered after document regular version registration, and automatically adding, for example, a ruled line to the alteration history area at the right end of a screen when the contents of the both are different. CONSTITUTION: A system after generating a document list on the basis of data stored on a hard disk 5 registers a specific document as a regular version (figure output) according to a user's indication. Then the registered document is read out of the hard disk 5 and displayed on a CRT 3. When the user corrects the document at the time of editing, the ruled line is added (displayed) in the correction history area at the right end of the document that is displayed. In another way, the characters at the corrected part is changed in color and displayed when a color CRT 3 is used. When the color CRT 3 is not used, the characters at the corrected part are changed in font and displayed. |
