In a bread-roll prepn. assembly, the novelty is that a twin bread-roll bread making machine incorporates a number of parallel trays (211) onto which pairs of raw dough lumps (31, 31') are deposited by conveyor belts (41) from a dispenser unit (11). The trays (211) rest on a conveyor (21) which advances in the same direction as the dough-supply (A), coming to a halt when the dough pairs are positioned between a pair of overhead clamps (612, 612') which partially closes to effect a union between a pair of dough lumps.
