Process for forming images on printing plate using digital information

In a process for forming an image on a printing plate, partic. in a multi-colour printing machine, a medium carrying printing image information in digital form is applied to the printing plate. Pref. the medium is applied according to the ink jet principle and may be an ink or ink-like material. The medium is ink-compatible while the areas to which medium is not applied are wetting agent-compatible; alternatively the areas to which medium is applied are wetting agent-compatible and form non-printing areas of the printing plate. The medium may be self-curing or may be cured e.g. using UV light.
