PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an air bag possible to reach the inside of a compartment of a motor vehicle by shearing a material of a deployment door member by a shearing tab when a restraint for vehicle occupant is inflated and the deployment door member moves pivotally relative to a support member. SOLUTION: A plurality of shearing tabs 54 are provided in a top wall part 50 of a reaction canister 16 of an air bag 18, and these shearing tabs 54 pass through one of slots formed on a deployment door member 12, respectively, and elongate. Each shearing tab 54 shears a material of the deployment door member 12 when the air bag 18 is inflated and the deployment door member 12 moves pivotally relative to a support member 16 to open an opening part of the deployment door member 12 from the support member 16. Consequently, the deployment door 12 moves pivotally up to an open position so that the air bag 18 can reach the inside of a compartment of a motor vehicle.
