PURPOSE: To provide a packing material which can be disposed of in a simple manner without causing public hazards or raising other environmental problems and serves concurrently as a cushioning material for protecting the packed object from shocks, etc., satisfactorily. CONSTITUTION: A packing material 10 consists of a single piece of corrugated cardboard having the sides and flaps in one continuous piece and is obtainable by stamping it out from a strip of corrugated cardboard through a special die. Side-forming parts 12a-12d are bent along bending lines provided at their boundaries to form the external sides of a rectangular box. Next lower inner flaps 20a-20d and 22a-22d are bent along their bending lines in sequence to form a cushioning part on the inside bottom of the external box and subsequently lower outer flaps 14a, 14b are put together to a closed state to form the external bottom of the box. In forming this external bottom, flap members 40, 42, 44, 46 provided respectively on the two sides at the ends of the lower outer flaps 14a, 14b are inserted into grooves 60, 62. |
