<p>An apparatus (10) for dispensing a specified quantity of bills (14) of a single denomination has a feed mechanism (24, 36, 34) for feeding bills into a first guide path (41), and a transport mechanism (19, 42, 44) for receiving bills within a second guide path (49). The first and second guide paths (41, 49) are arranged so that reversal of the transport mechanism (19, 42, 44) causes a single bill to be dispensed from the apparatus (10) via a gap (51) between the two guide paths (41, 49). If a misfeed is detected, the transport mechanism (19, 42, 44) is maintained in forward operation to collect misfed bills within an internal rejected bill receptacle (54).</p> |
