Stereoscopic imaging system for surgical microscope

The imaging system has an illumination beam used to provide 2 partial beams for illuminating the object from 2 different directions, to provide images for the left and right eyes of the observer. The 2 partial beams are provided in alternation at a frequency which is greater than the flicker frequency of the human eye, the corresponding images supplied to the eyes at the same frequency, for simulating a stereoscopic image.
