The interchangeable point (34) of the boring tool consists in its entirety of a harder material than the body (32). The interchangeable point may consist of a cutting material from the hard metal, ceramic or wear-resistant coated tool steel group. The body consists of tool steel or a high-speed steel. The major cutting faces each have two radially orientated cutting edges (16) which are located roof-shaped one against the other and forming the interchangeable point.
