<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent for removing NOx having a fine pore structure preferable for adsorbing NOx by activating a granular molding of a phenol resin powder or the carbide, produced by thermally treating the molding in a specific condition, in a specific temp. range so as to be in a specific range of weight decreasing factor. CONSTITUTION: The granular molding containing 5-90 pts.wt. binder to 100 pts.wt. phenol resin powder or the carbide produced by thermally treating the molding in a non-oxidizing atmosphere at 500-900 deg.C is activated at 700-1100 deg.C so as to have 5-30% weight decreasing factor based on the carbide as a reference. As the result, the adsorbent for removing NOx 600-1500m<2> /g in specific surface area, 0.01-10μm in fine pore diameter, 0.1-1.0cc/g in fine pore volume, 0.20-1.20cc/g in fine pore volume having <=100Åfine pore diameter, >=85vol.% in the ratio of fine pore volume having <=20Åfine pore diameter occupying in the fine pore volume having <=100Åfine pore diameter, 0.4-1.2g/cc in particle bulk density and >=0.25mmol/g in the quantity of HCl to be adsorbed is obtained.</p> |
