<p>PURPOSE: To prevent particles generated at the sliding parts of a cylinder and a plunger from mixing into a fluid being transported by ensuring that the particles are discharged out together with a part of the fluid. CONSTITUTION: This plunger pump includes a cylinder 1 having a suction port 1a and a delivery port 1b; a suction valve 2 provided in the suction port 1a; a delivery valve 3 provided in the delivery port 1b; and a plunger 4 which reciprocates within the cylinder 1, sucks a fluid from the suction port 1a into a suction chamber S formed between the cylinder 1 and the end of the plunger 4, and discharges the fluid from the delivery port 1b. An annular recess 4a communicated with the suction chamber S is formed in the outer peripheral face of the end of the plunger 4. An axially extending drain hole 4b having a closed end is formed within the plunger 4, and a radial communicating hole 4c communicating the recess 4a with the end of the drain hole 4b is formed at the end of the plunger 4.</p> |
