PURPOSE: To smoothly return to an operable state without a waste if a composite image forming device comes into an inoperable state by providing a display part capable of displaying the operation states of at least two or more image forming means. CONSTITUTION: Upon completion of start of image forming means A and B, a CPU 37 operates a display part 34 in four display pattens in accordance of the result of an error checking. In a checking process, the CPU 37 checks whether the image forming means A has a failure for checking items of the presence/absence of jamming, the detection of an ink residual amount in an ink tank, and the detection of a life of a recording head. If a failure occurs in any of the three checking items, the CPU 37 extinguishes an A ready part of the display part 34, flashes a message part, and displays the content of an error on a message display space. Next, the CPU 37 similarly conducts an error checking for the image forming means B. Lastly, the result of the checking is judged, and the process goes to a next process if at least either the image forming means A or B has no error. |
