HEATING OF PARTIALLY SOLIDIFIED MATERIAL AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To provide a method to rapidly and uniformly heat a partially solidified material and a compact device therefor. CONSTITUTION: In this method for heating a partially solidified material by electromagnetic induction heating, a billet partially solidified is continuously heated to the neighborhood of solidus with a heating frequency of 2-10kHz and then the billets after heated are individually subjected to induction heating with a heating frequency of 0.3-1kHz. By this method, the temp. difference between the center part and end part of the billet becomes only slight.
