PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of applying a substantially constant contact force on a sheet stack irrespective of the height of the sheet stack. SOLUTION: To guide and press a conveyed sheet onto a sheet stack in a storage container, a lever having tow arms is provided so as to be attached rotatably around a support point. As pressing arms, a first arm 19 is provided to form a sharp angle with the surface of a stack 15 and has a free end placed on the stack, and a second arm 20 is provided to support a weight 22. The two arms 19 and 20 form an angle (γ) with each other around a support point 17 and, in this case, the two arms surround the support point such that the force application line of the weight 22 is located above the support pint 17 and the gravity center of a lever 18 is placed on a line 25 forming an optimal angle (δ) with respect to the first arm 19 according to the distance 1 or the angle (γ) of the weight 22 from the support point 17.
