PURPOSE: To make the activation process easier and to improve the discharging property, by storing a negative electrode formed by filling a paste including a hydrogen storage alloy to a collector, and drying and forming it, in the ambiance of a specific temperature and humidity, in a secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: In a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery, a positive electrode 1 is wound between a negative electrode 2 through a separator 3, and they are housed in a container 4 with a cylindrical form with bottom. The negative electrode 2 is manufactured by adding a conductive powder in a hydrogen storage alloy powder, and mixing together with a high polymer binder and the water to form paste, filling this paste in a collector, and press forming after drying. The negative electrode 2 is stored in an ambiance with the temperature 20 to 50 deg.C, and the relative humidity 50% or more. As a result, the surface of the hydrogen storage alloy powder is reformed, and the hydrogen storage alloy powder made in an inactive condition is activated. Consequently, a conductive agent in the positive electrode 1 is filled in the deep part, in the initial charging process of the secondary battery. |
