摘要 PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of the unevenness of luminance and the variable density of light caused by the ruggedness of a reflection surface and to enhance the average luminance in the back iluminating of a liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION: The light from light sources 14 and 15 is reflected by the reflection surface 13a of a light transmission body 13, passes through a diffusing sheet 12 from an emission surface 13b, and is given to the liquid crystal display panel 11. The reflection surface 13a comes close to a display part B in the center part A. A recessed surface 13r is formed on the emission surface 13b of the body 13 so as to provide a gap between the diffusing sheet 12 and the surface 13r. In the case the reflection surface 13a comes extremely close to the display part B in the center part A, the luminance in the center part becomes high, but the luminance is prevented from being locally increased in the center part because the reflected light in the center part A is diffused by the space on the recesed surface 13r. Then, the variable density of the light caused by the ruggedness of the reflection surface 13a in the center part becomes inconspicuous. Since the reflection surface 13a is made to come close to the display part B in the center part A, the entire lighting luminance is enhanced.
