CONSTITUTION: A scanner unit 1 is manually moved, the English words on paper are read, for instance, and the meanings, etc., are displayed on a display device 10. When a specified error state such as when the reading of the English words is not enough due to the scanning mistake of the scanner unit 1 is generated, the error message according to the error state is displayed on the display device 10. At this time, the number of times of the generation of error is counted by the counter composed of timer circuits 21 and 22.
