The invention relates to a steering gear arrangement for a vehicle whereby the steering gear (11) is arranged in a steering gear box (10) which is intended to be permanently fitted to the vehicle frame (2). The steering gear box (10) is provided with a removable bottom (21) and the steering gear (11) is removably fastened to the steering gear box bottom (21). This makes it possible for the steering gear (11) to be pre-assembled to the steering gear box bottom (11) before being inserted as a unit into the steering gear box from below for the fitting of other connections to the steering gear. Alternatively the steering gear may be pre-assembled to any other of the walls of the steering gear box (10), thereby correspondingly facilitating the fitting of the steering gear (11) to the vehicle.
