The operation comprises: (a) displaying an image of the print to be executed on a screen (13) near the press (9), before the plate is made; (b) producing the image from image signals and signals containing the press (9) parameters, and if the image deviates from the required print quality: (c) inserting correction values into the control (10, 11) for local variations of ink levels, until the image matches the required result; (d) displaying the image again with the correction signals, including the press characteristics; (e) mfg. the plate; and (f) adjusting the ink feeds to give the required deliveries for printing.
