<p>Compounds which have the effect of blocking glutamic acid receptors and thus are useful in the prevention and treatment of various nervous diseases or nerve degeneration such as neuron death following cerebral ischemia. A glutanic acid receptor blocker and a cerebral function ameliorant comprising as the active ingredient a compound represented by general formula (1) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, wherein X and Y represent an arbitrary combination of groups independently selected from among CH2, CHW1 (wherein W1 represents halogeno, hydroxy or lower alkoxy) and C=O when X and Y are bonded to each other via a single bond, while X and Y represent an arbitrary combination of groups independently selected from among CH and COW2 (wherein W2 represents lower alkyl or lower alkylcarbonyl) when X and Y are bonded to each other via a double bond; Z represents O, S, S=O, or SO¿2?; and R?1 to R8¿ are each selected from among hydrogen, OR9 (wherein R9 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxylate lower alkyl or carboxylated lower alkyl), halogeno, lower alkyl, lower alkyl ketone, CF¿3?, nitro, amino and phenyl.</p> |
