A two-stroke diesel engine with a spiral air intake duct, comprising an air intake duct (1) arranged over a large part of the wall circumference of a cylinder (2) at the bottom dead centre of a piston (9). The air intake duct (1) is connected to the cylinder (2) via transfer ducts (e.g. 3, 4, 5) mutually separated by vanes (e.g. 6, 7, 8). The vanes are at an angle to the central axis of the cylinder so that air is injected into the cylinder with a strong whirling motion about the cylinder axis. |
