The present invention relates to a transition metal cationic chiral non-racemic complex containing a substituted or unsubstituted tetradentate or quinquedentatate ligand derived from two salicylaldimine units, the cationic complex including a non-nucleophilic anion NNA and, optionally, an oxygen atom bonded to the transition metal and, optionally, a neutral donor ligand D capable of coordinative bonding to the transition metal, the cationic chiral complex and the cationic chiral oxo-complex having structural formulae (I and II), respectively. The complex of formula (II) is useful for stereoselectively epoxidising an alkene and for stereoselectively oxidising a tertiary amine, an organic sulphide or a racemic tertiary phosphine. |
