Lipid constructs for targeting to vascular smooth muscle tissue

A lipid construct comprising an aminomannose derivatized cholesterol suitable for targeting smooth muscle cells and tissue. Preferred formulations contain 6-(cholest-5-en-3 beta -yloxyl)hexyl-6-amino-6-deoxy-1-thio- alpha -D-mannopyranoside in liposome formulations wherein the formulations are delivered generally to arteries using percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty procedures. These formulations have applications in the reduction of restenosis.
