<p>A method for processing a black-and-white silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is disclosed. The methodcomprises the steps of developing an imagewise exposed black-and-white silver halide photographic light-sensitive material with a developing solution in the presence of a complex forming compound, fixing the developed light-sensitive material with a fixing solution, washing or stabilizing the fixed light-sensitive material with water or a stabilizing solution, respectively, and drying the washed or stabilized light-sensitive material, wherein the light-sensitive material comprises a support and at least one silver halide emulsion layer and optionally one or more non-light-sensitive hydrophilic colloid layers provided on a first side of the support, and a layer provided on the second side opposite to the fist side of the support, and at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and the non-light sensitive hydrophilic layer adjacent to the silver halide emulsion layer provided on the first side of the support contains a hydrazine compound, at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and the non-light sensitive hydrophilic layers provided on the first side of the support contains a redox compound capable of releasing a development inhibitor upon oxidation reaction, the layer provided on the second surface of the support contains a sparingly water-soluble metal compound capable of releasing a base upon reaction with the complex forming compound.</p> |
