<p>PURPOSE: To provide a TFT liquid crystal display device with which display with high image quality and operation with low electric power consumption are possible. CONSTITUTION: Pixel electrodes 703 and counter electrodes 120, 121 are composed on the same glass substrate 402, by which electric fields (drop-out parts of an arrow S) parallel with a panel are formed. Liquid crystals which are changed in helix angle within the plane parallel with the panel are used for the liquid crystals 801. The counter electrodes 120, 121 are so installed as to extend in a column direction and are separated by every column. The liquid crystals are AC-driven by switching the liquid crystals between a high level/low level at every column. A drain voltage of a positive polarity and a drain voltage of a negative polarity are impressed at every other column on drain lines Dn by signal driving circuits. As a result, a wide visual angle is obtd. and flickering is prevented. Further, the driving of the signal driving circuits by general-purpose logic power sources is made possible. In addition, the electric power consumption is reduced.</p> |
